Tulips and some sweet phonecalls

Tulips in a Victorian coffee pot

It was so nice today to take a break from marking to
talk to some friends on the phone, while I tried to
make this little drawing of tulips turn into a watercolour
painting.

A few years ago I subscribed to a neat art supply
company that sent out a new box of cool things
to draw and paint with every month.  One thing
I'd never tried was this black marker.  So when I
bought tulips a few days ago, I drew them.

Today I found out something.  And that's what we
artists are supposed to do.  When I applied water
and my gorgeous acrylic inks to the drawing
the black marker ran.  As in the black seeped
into the colour and voila.

I persisted using acrylic pens to try and make the
leaky marks recede.  And this is the result.
In this crazy time -- producing something --
still feels good.

Have a making something day.
