Barbara Muir © 2014I can't believe I missed my blog anniversary on
February 18, 2008! I've been blogging for six years!!!
Wow! That time sped by in a flash and has been
filled with exciting and incredibly enriching artistic
experiences. Thank you to everyone.
I think it is fitting that the day before my annual
bloganniversary I was was in Ottawa selling one of my
favorite paintings ever. So I was on the art beat, just
not focused on this important occasion.
What a fantastic ride it's been! New friends, super art to
read about, and to create, wonderful travels to great art
sites and friends, TV shows! Woo Hoo as some of my
friends say. And now as Alyson Stanfield would
remind me -- it's time to get back into the studio.
But do this for me first. Have a glass of whatever it
is you like to drink, and toast to blogging, to our friendship,
to art, and -- if you like -- to me. And I'll do the same --
I'll toast to you! Thank you for everything. It's been six
And if you like come on the blog, add a comment, and
I will write you back. Woo Hoo!
No time for painting today, but I plan to polish these
two paintings tomorrow. Today I wanted to show
you how they go together. They are part of the
ocean series that I started in 2010. Going back
to an older theme is fascinating, because my "eye"
or artistic thinking has changed quite a bit.
To give you an idea of the scale --
Here are the paintings on the kitchen cabinet.Happy Bloganniversary to you!
Happy (dance) Sixth Blog-a-versary!!!!
And those paintings on the kitchen counter? They are marvelous. When you paint people, you must imbue a little of yourself in them, and that makes me want to have them over for dinner. xo
Hey girl hey. I think you would love having both of these people over for dinner. We should totally do that sometime.
I hope this is the year we get to meet! I'm sure we've been friends through this amazing medium for six years plus. I'm going to ask the universe to make it happen!
Barbara, first let me say happy bloggy anniversary! I met you through the blog and that is something to celebrate for me. Your joy in life and love of happiness is communicated in these two remarkable portraits. They go together very nicely. are you sending them to New York for a show again this year?
Thanks Barbara for showing the paintings on the counter because it's more like being there!!
This series is so exuberant and these last 2 portraits are particularly stunning. You are a wonderful portrait painter (and flowers, houses, still life, food etc etc )…You are a true painter's painter. Thanks for continuing this blog and sharing the journey. xoox
Thank you so much. I am so happy I met you through the blog. Yes these two and one more (3) are going to New York in about a week. I am still working on number three. I have to say that blogging and meeting wonderful artist like you has greatly added to my joy in life!!!
You know you were way out ahead of me. I do remember that you wanted me to start a blog, and I was terrified. That seems funny now. I guess I could not imagine what a wonderful and positive experience it would be. Thank you for radically changing my life in art.
Happy Belated Blog Anniversary Barbara! 8 years is quite the achievement! I have just had a quick scroll through some of your older posts and am in awe of your prolific and stunning output. You are an inspiration.
Just LOVE these two paintings!!!
I also had a quick look at your other blog and love the concept - you are amazing!
Thank you so much Wendy. It's just 6, but it feels like a good while. So much fun. I miss it badly when I can't blog as much as I'd like to -- like lately.
Barbara!! Happy 6 Years of blogging! I'm SO glad we got to know each other and have even hung out together : ) You are a light and so much fun. And inspirational. These pieces are fresh and strong and exuberant. I can smell the ocean air. And they're off to NY!! Yay! Congratulations! xoxo
I thought I'd answered you, and I feel the same way. I want to hang out together again soon, metaphorically and in real life! So thrilled that you like these. I am in New York now! Thinking of you.
