Super openings today -- one at the Don Valley
Art Club this afternoon where I displayed two small watercolours,
and one at Studio Vogue Gallery this evening where I
showed both watercolours and my big still life Breakfast
in the hotel based on a wonderful breakfast I had at the
Quebec City Hilton this past summer. Joyce Fournier and
her husband Paul did a beautiful job hanging the show.
I met artists Heather LaRue and Alexandra Pennycook
who showed wonderful work.

Steven snapped the picture of me with the big one
before the Studio Vogue show opened.
It got pretty crowded after that and was a lot of fun.
Thanks to everyone who came out.  You made my evening.

Is it just me, or is this year speeding by at lightning
speed.  (I actually heard someone say the other day on
either Jon Stewart or Stephen Colbert that the speed
of light was too slow for wall street traders).  What
would my great grandparents think of this world?
Freak out.  That's what.

Well it is less than a month to Christmas, and whether you
celebrate it or not, it's a marker in the year in North
America, and a holiday (Yay!)  But the other heads
up is that the year is almost over -- 2012.
Time to realize what a great year it was, and what
we'd like to change for next year.

Deep thoughts on a Saturday.  I hope your
day is filled with laughter and fun tomorrow.
Mine was today.

Have a laughing-it-up day.

It schmecks!!!!
Congratulations!!!!
I'm in awe of you, Barbara, painting feverishly right up until the 11th hour - you are a hero.
And such a biggie, what a spread - I thought you must be crazy to take on such a big project physically in size and scope with so little time, maybe you thought so too at times.
But there she hangs in all her glory, a feast for the eye - beautiful. Again congrats, mazel tov!!!!

Love,
Marcia

Hi Melinda,

Woah girl. Time out for a hot chocolate, five minutes with my book, and I admit my brain is filled with ideas. Not along these lines, but lots is cooking.

Thank you so much. I'm glad I looked alert. I certainly did feel proud and grateful to the gallery owners. They did an amazing job.

Hi Sally,

Thank you so much. I did have fun at the shows the other day despite a raging cold that someone bestowed upon me. I'm afraid I've probably spread it to the multitudes by now. I really wish you could see this piece. I hope you are having a super December. I am not quite in the holiday mode yet. Still working pretty hard.

XO Barbara

Hi Mary Lou,

I wish you could see it in person. I feel quite good by today, and ready to work feverishly hard for the next few weeks.

Have to. Might as well enjoy myself.

Hi Marcia,

John Hinrichs claims he talked me through one of the panels. He is claiming the oatmeal, and I'm sure you talked me through at least one. Nothing like speaker phones for those of us with attention problems. Thanks for your support all the way through. Now come and see it!

Love,

Barbara

Bless you,

Hi Marilyn,

Thanks so much. Maybe it was a good thing I had a cold, or I might have been jumping up and down in front of my work and acting like a crazy person. I felt that way inside, but the outside was not at all like that!

Love your work.

Barbara, this is spectacular! Wow!
It deserves some media attention and an appreciative buyer.
Congratulations. You are an inspiration!
love, Flora xoxo

Barbara Muir said...

Hi Flora,

I would love it to get that, but have no idea how. Yes an appreciative buyer is a super idea. Doing the Whoop exercise right now thinking about it. You are my inspiration.

Hi Laurel,
Thanks so much. I was surprised myself at the scale, having worked on it in pieces, and in parts. It was so nice to see the whole thing as I planned it.

Thank you -- you are beautiful and your work is beautiful too.

Hi Kim,

Thank you so much. I'm glad you like it because I so admire everything you are doing, and you just keep taking it out there to a new level, so I was trying to do that too, and am happy you think I have.

Hi Sally,

Well let me know if you're in town,
and I'm home, I'd love to pop in with you. It was a delicious one. I am the oatmeal person, and hotels generally make a fine oatmeal.

You are sweet. Love your work.

Wow! I'm finally over my busy time and I am getting a chance to sit at the computer and enjoy artwork by my favorite artists. And here I am looking at your spectacular ode to breakfast! It is fabulous! Wow again. Congratulations and you do look lovely.

Hugs,
Nicki

Barbara Muir said...

Hi Nicki,

I was picking up my work at another art show yesterday that's beside a wild park. Looking at some wetlands and grasses all December colours, I thought to myself (I may have even said it out loud), "Now Nicki would make that into a magnificent picture. That is so her!" Just wanted you to know that you've invaded my consciousness. Now the exterior landscape conforms to your superb vision.

This big one kicks ass. As the young ins say . . . "hecka good!!" The only criticism I have is that the colors are way to fun. You need to gray down your palette. :-)

Barbara Muir said...

Hi David,

That wouldn't be the first time I've been told to tune that fun colour down. Okay going to make up some great muted greys for my next big painting! Maybe not. Thanks so much. You made me very happy with this.

Ciao,

Barbara

Every time I see this painting in scale (with your radiant face smiling next to it) I imagine your art in a glossy design magazine. I could see this one in architectural digest, hanging in someone's swanky dining room, as the artistic center piece near a gorgeous table. Fingers crossed that it ends up in just such a scenario in 2013. :)
