The urge to art -- answer -- get drawing!

Here's a  drawing I did in the sketchbook I brought with
me on our road trip.  Every bit of the route between Toronto
and the ocean in Nova Scotia was captivating, in every
kind of weather.

This was not a high, blue sky, day -- but it was lovely. The fields
are so spectacular now.  Working in coloured pencils, and Derwent
watercolour pencils -- I drew a soft version of what I saw.

I hope you're having a miraculous end of August.  We are.

Have an enjoying what you see day.

These quick landscapes are really gorgeous Barbara! Something very fresh about them. Maybe using the "wrong" materials together is a good thing, sometimes ;)

Hi Verna,

I didn't plan to do art in Nova Scotia, and the mosquitoes were so bad that I had to
work with a citronella candle practically on top of the paper -- right under my face.
But the beauty everywhere is so overwhelming in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Quebec
that I had the strongest urge to record it.

XOXOXOXOXO Barbara

Your dedication to recording this place you love, is very inspiring! :)

Thank you Verna,

Place is huge. Not on its own. People make it come alive. But my heart settles in certain places.
Nova Scotia is one. On the other hand Paris is another!

There's a theme here somewhere. Sorry I didn't get to see you.

XOXOXOXO

I'm very sorry I missed you, too. A very awkward handling of the celphone which I so rarely use.
But I look forward to future visits to Ontario and another chance to see you... or, who knows, perhaps we end up meeting in Nova Scotia - or Paris! :D

Now that would be something Verna, going around the corner in the neighbourhood we visit in Paris,
just across the Seine from the Louvre, and seeing you in the café where we eat lunch! OMG! What
a treat that would be as we struggle with our minimal French vocabulary!

XOXOXOXO Barbara
