Face it

You are so great to talk to

Maybe the reason I like doing portraits so much, is
because I love talking to people face to face. The portrait
process not only lets you do that, it demands it.

This is another grey scale painting of a dear friend
of mine. Her beauty always astounds me, and has
since the first day we met.  Then there's her voice,
its deep wonderful sound, and her infectious laugh.
She is one of those friends who's a boon to the soul.

I haven't got her here exactly, and I know that in
acrylic I'd just keep going until I had her, shifting
and painting over and continuing.  But watercolour
is a one off, and in some ways that's what's great about
it.  I do like the painting, and maybe the next one
will really be my friend, and then if she doesn't want it, I'll
treasure it.

Have a treasuring-your-friends day.

Gosh, Barbara, this is lovely and so was last night’s!!!
I love how you’re using Payne's Grey and your water color always has a marvelous freshness to it.
Perhaps we could have a Payne's Grey party sometime? Maybe? - Now that you've developed a rapport with gray - no longer in value denial - as you say – not that you ever were!!!

love, Marcia

Wow! This is fabulous. You make those values sing.

I hope you'll take Marcia's suggestion for a Payne's Gray party. It would be so grand to see the results.

Virtual hugs to you!

Hi Marcia,

I think a party is in order, but lets have a party with colour, a colourful party -- way more fun.

Hi Melinda,

You come and we'll have a party -- Payne's Grey, full colour, line, discussions of our favorite artists, music, great food. Name the date.

We'll work around you. I'm in New York the first two weeks in May, other than that right now the calendar is wide open girl.
