The Miracle -- Inspiration from a long distance friend

After a wonderful day that culminated with meeting
my dear cousin Peter at the gallery to show him
my work, I headed home happy and exhausted
to make dinner and watched a glorious series of
TED Talks while I did.  Some I've watched before,
and enjoyed reconnecting with them, and some were
new.  All of them were geared to starting your
motor again and jumping you back to life.

Steven is working all night, so I decided to look
up my friend Janet Vanderhoof's work.  Watching
a video of Janet working made me want to paint.
And there's the miracle.  I started this painting of
lemons a few days ago, and have had zero time to
paint.  Janet got me back in the studio, and although
it's not finished, I feel happy about the painting so far.
More than that -- painters gotta paint -- so the act of
painting made me joyous.  Thank you Janet. And
thank you Joyce, for being a gracious gallery director,
and thanks to everyone (and there are quite a few of
you) who made this a great day!
More work in the Studio Vogue show, on now
and until November 29, from 11a.m. - 6 p.m.
Wednesday - Saturday.
Have a witnessing-the-miracle day.

I know in reality from years of devoted experience that lemons are sour but in your painting they look divinely sweet. Truly beautiful.

Hi Barbara, I'm glad I could inspire you to paint. The painting is beautiful, I love the color and wonderful abstract shapes. Thanks for sharing my video, I was having fun that day. You can tell by my dance painting lol.

Hi Marcia,

Thank you so much. I really only eat lemons in hot lemon, but love them there, and they are magnificent. Christopher taught me to use lemons and limes as instant decoration, and he was right. I love your work!

XOXOXOXO Barbara

Hi Janet,

I loved your painting and dancing. It made me happy that I liked your music -- just one more thing we share. Your work is so beautiful.

Hi Sally,

Thank you so much. I'd actually hoped to finish this for my show, but there was too much going on on the home front (construction, painting, general upheaval). So as things started to settle down a bit, I felt inspired. Not quite done.

XOXOXOXO Barbara
