Going for loose -- sometimes! Happy New Year

Just before Christmas, one of Bob Burridge's Bob blasts
(his weekly video art advice hit), told us how to paint
flowers without reference.  He did them in about five
minutes.  Mine took much, much longer.

This is one of two paintings I did with that technique.
I was going to put them in an art show before
Christmas, but thought better of it.  Tonight I was
looking for reference to another image, and found
them, and thought, 'why not?'

The world right now (and maybe it always has
been) is an uptight place.   In the spirit of startingf
a new year -- let's keep it loose just for today.

Thank you to everyone for your wonderful
words of inspiration and kindness to me
in 2015.  Here's to an amazing 2016.

One of my friends on Face Book started
calling it sweet 16, and that made me fall in
love with the new year.  Thanks Phyllis.

Happy New Year!

Your flower painting is really lovely. The colours are very beautiful and it has such a positive energy, like all you work. You are truly a wonderful artist and person.

Hi Wendy,

It was a beautiful start to the year with a lovely
party. One of our friends played songs after midnight and
everyone sang. It was super. Happy New Year to you.

XOXOXOXOXOXO Barbara

Hi Sally,

the Bob blasts are wonderful. He is a super artist,
and very generous with his knowledge. I've never
met him, but feel like he's a friend because of
his videos.

Happy New Year to you and Dave,

XOXOXOXOXOXO Barbara

Hi Verna,

Wow, I am so moved by your kindness. Thank you.
It was fun to make this (and one more) flower
painting, because I paint flowers a lot but
much more seriously. I am intrigued by the knowledge
we carry that we don't even recognize.

Happy New Year to you, and thanks for all of the
inspiration in 2015.

XOXOXOXOXO Barbara

Hi Kim,

Thank you. I'm working on some things that are not so fast, and want to
try and post more often this year -- because it makes me
so happy to hear from you. I absolutely love the work you
did in 2015 and know I could make a long list of favorites.

XOXOXOXOXO Barbara
