Steffie Wallace told me to -- and short blog break

My dear friend Steffie Wallace is a fantastic artist from
Australia, and she's also written a novel called The
August Months.  I met Steffie at the Florence Biennale,
and I just love her work -- very moody, misty, brilliant
landscapes -- all about light.

So when I posted an iPad drawing last night, and Steffie
suggested I do a series, I thought maybe I'll do at least
one more, and pop it up here for you tonight.

I am going to take a few days off the blog.  I've got
a bad cold I think I picked up from one of the
sweetest very young people I know.  And I need
to concentrate on painting and thinking for a short
break.  I may miss you too much to stop, but I do
need to prepare for a show in May!  More news about
that coming up.  Meanwhile be good to yourself.

Have a dreaming-of-glorious-adventures day.

Love the iPad painting--the colors, the distillation of a landscape into shapes.
Hope you feel better soon!

Dear Barbara: even the most generous of spirits need time to themselves every now and again. Take good care of yourself and we will celebrate when you return! Love -- ML

Thank you Laura,

The nice thing about drawing on the iPad is the distillation of sense memory
from beloved landscapes and the work I'm focusing on. Then of course
drawing with my finger is limiting in a great way. It is just so fun.
Love, love, love your work.

XOXOXOXOXOXO Barbara

Hi Mary Lou,

I thought of you tonight. There was a very moving Syrian poet on CBC reading. She
made the loss that immigrants feel with the devastation of their land so vivid. As
you know there is a lot going on in our family that is very hard right now. We will
be fine. But yes we do need time. I have so enjoyed your comments. They make me
feel joyous. I hope all is well with you.

XOXOXOXOXOXOXO Barbara
