A growing friendship

Ken Lander of of Sunrise Greenhouses is a sweet
person. Now he's living with Maxine who is also
just wonderful. When we're in Pugwash we buy
our flowers from Ken. You probably know by
now that we're addicted to flowers. But we could
never get flowers like those Ken grows in Toronto.
His house looks out on the ocean, and he takes us
around the gardens picking amazing and unusual
blooms that he selects, picking the leaves off antique
roses, talking about his plans, and his life philosophy.
His cat Vanessa is as lovely as the gardens, with
eyes like the best amber, and a ginger and white tabby
coat.

We bought a bouquet yesterday and I was inspired to
paint this little painting.

Have a flowers-are-flourishing day.

Hi Karen,

they certainly are. Ken has actually invented a variety of petunia featured in Martha Stewart magazine ads. He's a scientist!

Take care,

Barbara
