Watch out for purring cats

 Timbah in the roses
iPad drawing
8 x 10 inches
Barbara Muir © 2012
At the end of the working day I got my novel and thought
I'd read for a minute.  Along came my sweet cat Timbah
probably wanting dinner, but purring up a storm, and
urging me to let him stay with me while I was reading.
A cat's purr I'll warn you is hypnotic.  Listening to Timbah
I felt more and more relaxed, and woke up two hours later
because I was hungry.  It was past supper time, and there
I was happily sleeping beside my lovely cat.

The drawing tonight is an iPad drawing of wonderful Timbah
sleeping on my rose covered comforter.

Have a loving-a-purring-cat day.

Hi Barbara,
Beautiful drawing.

As I stare at it I can imagine Timbah purring - what a lovely soothing sound they make.

Your iPad paintings are really so wonderful--something about the medium maybe, encourages expressions of fleeting moments?
I have a black cat too, and so I especially love this one!

Oh, that Timbah! What a great time you had with your sweetie cat. Animals are great for snoozing with. She must love you very much and knew that you needed a nap. Smart kitty.

Love this drawing too.

This is such striking drawing- I love it!

Animals take care of their "parents" as much as we take care of them.

Hi Josephine,

It is a lovely sound isn't it. Timbah is pretty good as you know at insinuating himself onto a lap, a shoulder or next to a reader to make sure he gets the attention he needs. He is a delightful fellow.

Hi Laura,

Thank you. I'm working on a big commission, but iPad drawings let me keep on putting images on the blog, while I work on the large, slower canvas.

Glad you like it. I can tell that you're a cat person. And perhaps a dog person. Our cats love our dog.

Hi Melinda,

Timbah does love me very much you're right, and probably knows that I could always use a nap. He is our boy cat. The male rep in the animal world (neutered of course before we got him). He was a rescue cat, and when we got him we were looking for a little kitten at the wrong time of year. He was one and people at a wonderful shelter were taking care of him. When I walked my his cage he reached out his paws and grabbed my hand and held it gently. We went off to look for kittens, but that gesture touched me, and a week later, with no kittens on the horizon, we went back, were delighted that he was there and brought him home. He is a very loving cat, he even loved the vet!

Hi Nicki,

I know that animals are well aware of our moods. Cats are somewhat self-sufficient, but feel happiest when we are content, eating (and there's a possibility of food) or sleeping and there's a possibility of a cuddle. I know my cats love me, and I love them big time.

And my dog. Let's not forget sweet Zoey.
