More Skype excitement coming up

(I come by my interest in
china honestly, especially
antique china, because my grandmother
when advised to rest after a
heart attack spent her mornings
painting beautiful designs on china
that her grandchildren covet.
She was an amazing artist.)
This month a teacher in Virginia contacted
me asking me if I'd talk to his class (via
Skype) about doing portraits on Skype.
The teacher is an amazing artist himself,
and an inspiring, wonderful teacher at the
public school level.  So I'll tell you more about
what we're going to be doing when I know more.
We had a great talk and began tossing ideas
around of how to organize the event.

Meanwhile I am still working on capturing
the last of the summer's flowers (although
now I think you'd have to officially call
them fall flowers.)

But I'm also thinking about my son and
daughter-in-law half way around the world,
on their honeymoon.  They have been the
inspiration for many Skype paintings.
I'm including one of Megan and Christopher tonight.

Have a enjoying-all-of-the-excitement-life-brings day.

Oh, I am so excited for you with the up and coming Skype interview. I know that you will inspire them all.

What a beautiful young couple. You've painted them so full of life and youthful happiness. I do love the special way in which Skype frame the speaker.

Excellent work once again, all round. It is good, too, to know that you are connected to relatives who are and were artists. Yes, it's in your genes.

Hug, hug, and best wishes as you work your magic in the world.

Hi Melinda,

The exciting thing is figuring out the best way to make it an enjoyable experience for the children. Skype is such a cool medium for portraiture because of the way people talk into their laptops, lying on a couch, sitting at their kitchen tables, just
right in the middle of life. Something the formal portrait doesn't attempt. Speaking of magic in the world. That wonderful painting of the canyon just overwhelms me with joy at your incredible skill, and the fact of that beauty being available on our little planet home.
