A long weekend—cottage thoughts

At Lake Muskoka

It rained most of the day today, but that didn’t stop us from wanting
to be in the country.  So we went for a walk by the lake. I love this
painting because it captures is the absolute bliss people feel
when they are in their favourite country setting.

The portrait was done as a commission for this sweet fellow's wife. I
was delighted that she was happy with the painting. She wanted me to
capture her husband, and his full vivacious nature. He was a great model.
Because this was before COVID, he posed for me.

Like most portraits the painting had to have things in it that were significant.
The blanket mattered. As artists we take these things seriously, because we
know we are creating something that will last and that matters to the family.

Wishing you a very happy Victoria day weekend, or whatever it is in the
country you live in.

Have a loving your life day.
