Art Group Sketch -- No more sorrow

It's been so long since I could join my art group on
Tuesday night to paint from the model. Tonight's
gentleman was excellent at giving off a mood --
serious, contemplative, artist/musician -- like
the best art models, stories bounced out of him
as he posed in absolute silence.
Here's what an hour with the group with two
breaks brought out in me. So wonderful to
see my fellow artists again. What with shows
out of the country, teaching and the inability
to stand for long, my home studio and
being able to break whenever I needed to has
been my refuge.
But how great to be with the group and hear

very moody and expressive Barbara! must have felt good to get back with your art group after such a break. Happy painting!
"Stories bounced out of him while he posed in absolute silence" What an excellent description! I've been fortunate enough to draw/paint a few models who fit that description, and what a wonderful experience.
Glad you made it up & out to paint with artist friends! The home studio is great, travel and teaching are wonderful - but there's something to be said for concentrated focus with like-minded people.
As always, thank you for sharing your work.
Thanks so much. There is nothing like it in some ways.
I just love seeing my friends and watching them work.
I didn't have enough time to do the amazing work they
were doing, but I was high on the visions afterwards.
Thank you so much. I'm glad you know what I mean.
I liked his sober seriousness. It was both restful and disturbing.
And the breaks with the artists I know and like
so much are just like the icing on
Beautiful head, Barbara. You get wonderful results working quickly.
Thank you Marcia,
A high compliment coming from you. I'm glad you like it!
It is wo,derful, and rare, to have a good life group!
I belonged to one years ago where we were lucky enough to have models whose personalities were strong and shone through--a great help to me!
Thank you. Yes it is wonderful. Strong personalities and an
ability to stay in a pose is a great combo. Love your
paintings, and I'm delighted that you're back blogging.
