Winning the Creative Blogger award

Mother and Daughter
acrylic on canvas
36 x 48 inches
(The start of a big new commission
lately I cannot wait to get some
black onto a painting. I had one
tube of black paint for 10 years, but
now my instinct says get it on there,
and we'll start to have a painting.
As you can see it's still wet here.
I love this stage in a painting.
It's all fun, all underpainting
and blocking, all possibility.
And thought. I love the thinking
about it too. I had some fun with
those stripes on the girl's jacket. I might
not keep them.)

A big shout out to Julie Davis for giving me the
Kreativ Blogger award. What a sweetheart Julie is and
an absolutely amazing painter herself. Despite the fact
that I do techie things, I find the smallest change on
my blog is a challenge. My son, Christopher, helps me,
but some things are difficult for him too. So when we
added another slide show onto the blog, we had to take
off two awards I'd won before, so we could keep the
slide shows. Has anyone got the solution to that?

Well. I decided I can show you the lovely award,

and follow the rules:

Seven things I love:
1. My husband
2. My children
3. My extended family
4. My friends
5. Painting and drawing
6. Teaching
7. Going for long walks
8. Coffee
9. Watching Oprah!

Seven artists I follow who I think of as friends
in no special order -- all are important to me:
Julie Davis -- who gave me this award
Flora Doehler -- who told me about blogging
Theresa Rankin -- who gave me my first two awards
and has painted my kitchen
Laurel Daniel -- a superb artist and kind friend
Liza Hirst -- a great artist who is a kind supporter and wonderful friend
Melinda Esparza -- a super artist and brilliant friend
Susan Carlin -- a great artist and generous friend
Edgar Shrock -- an excellent artist and friend
Eldon Warren -- one of my first blog friends, and a super artist
David Lobenberg -- a talented and witty artist friend
Belinda Del Pescoe -- a super artist and kind supportive friend
Edward B. Gordon -- who can paint circles around me, and a kind
supportive friend.
Aaron Lifferth -- his work is great.

I will add newer friends Milind Mulick, R. Garriott,
Laura, Karen Bruson, and Gwen Bell. That's the only problem.
I could have a list of 50 people's work I admire. And
that list grows every day.

I started a big commission today -- and I'm working on some
other paintings. Life is certainly fast and furious.

Have a painting-is-the-life-and-so-is-relaxing day.

Congratulations on all your recent adventures and successes. I'm honored to be listed among all your very accomplished friends (all of whom I am sure type better than I do, too).

The painting is off to a fine start.

Hi R.,

Reading your posts I always feel like a troglodyte -- so if we're talking accomplished I think you are way up there. Yes the painting is going well, and I am very happy.

Take care,

Barbara

Congratulations Barbara! Another award appropriately extended.

Love the start of your new commission. It will be fun to check back in to see how you develop and finish it.

Can you go back to the people who gave you the other awards and retrieve the awards from them?

You are a dear and kind friend! Wishing you ever success.

My dear Barbara, thank you so much for giving me the award - I don't really deserve it because I am such a lousy blogger ( and not fishing for compliments!). I am always in awe and very impressed by your long posts every day, and all that besides painting, teaching AND leaving comments on other blogs! I hardly get round to answering comments I get myself, never mind writing posts and visiting other blogs. I don't know how you do it....
Thank you so much!
Oh, and your painting looks promissing!

Hi Liza,

You are so welcome. But -- here's what you do -- you post an amazing painting almost every day. That in itself blows me away. You have the consummate skill of a talented and
passionate artist, and it shows in everything you do. In my opinion, that's more than enough.

Hi Melinda,

How did I miss you? I must have been half blind with thought. That happens, and I know you'd understand that idea. It seems the weekends are so full, and I'm behind on every adult task except painting. Ah well. That matters. Congratulations to you for yet another award. You deserve every award and another 2000. It's like my favorite mark 125 out of 100,
(sorry I'm not allowed to give you more than 100%). Too funny. And
that's a rare mark indeed. But you'd get it every time.

Hi Melinda,

I know what the awards are, I just
can't put them on my blog, or I lose
my slide shows. Simple computer ignorance I suspect. Maybe some day you can help me with that. Never mind. Yes it's an exciting time. I just feel happy. So the computer issues will resolve. Meanwhile what a great painting you posted.
