The fun of quick drawings

I am not quite conscious when I write my three journal pages in
the morning as I drink my coffee. By the third coffee -- yes I'm
starting to be a human being. But before that, I begin to write in my
journal to get me thinking about the day, and just because it's a
helpful practice.

I found a journal from 10 years ago. Back then I made a point of doing
a drawing and writing on my daily journal pages per day. This inspired
me and I’ve started doing that again. The sketches aren't fabulous, but
I enjoy making them. Here’s a secret; I can’t write in the spaces filled
up by drawings. So it is actually a brilliant compromise.

This is a drawing I did from reference photos I’ve been taking for a series
about people in café’s and restaurants. This young woman was eating pizza
as she got ready to go off with her friends. I loved the look of eating
on the move, and couldn’t resist drawing her.

I may show you more of these drawings. They are done very quickly, and
with a very casual enjoyment. Still I’m glad that I’m doing them. Plus
I feel like I'm learning so much as I do.

Have a loving your life day
