Friday thoughts

City night pansies

Tonight Steven and I sat down and watched almost
one third of season 3 of Thirty Rock. I bought the
series as a little birthday present to myself. And
I do just love it. It was another long but rewarding
day. And now I'm going to sleep and trying not
to think about my minute by minute plans for the
weekend.

I painted another little pansy painting tonight,
because as the temperatures drop, and there's
frost on the rooftops each morning, I think my
chances to paint living plants are going to become
rare indeed. This is of course when I buy my amaryllis
plants for the house, and soon we'll start forcing tulips,
but right now these babies deserve center stage.

Have a giving-the-big-momma-(nature)-her-due day.

The Night Pansies are cool. I like the idea of the lights and the reflections. There's a bit of mystery involved and I like the abstract quality.

I have been enjoying your pansy paintings. They are so cheerful and that is a most welcome sight when the days are so short and often a cold wet. Thank you for brightening up my days with your vision.

Your pansie paintings are a real treat! As Le San says, so nice at this time of year.

Hi Eldon,

Thanks so much. I'm glad you like them. I do too. But the fact of life at this time of year is darkness and using the flowers as reminder of spring to come.

I guess that's the mystery. It will come. Right? Actually today feels just like spring, but everyone is leary.

Take care,

Barbara

Hi LeSan,

I'm glad you like them. We usually buy flowers for one another each weekend, bunches of roses and lilies, but these little beauties had to hold us through a week with no flowers, because we were just too busy.

Take care,

Barbara

is always a treat too. It warms my heart to think of you and your work --
such beauty across the ocean.
