I think I fell in love with coffee at university, where the coffee
shop was an integral meeting place during the day.  At
night it was the pub, but I never really got into beer.  Coffee
is perhaps my only addiction.

I love it when health magazines put out information that
say coffee is good for you, makes you more intelligent,
extends your life -- but I think I've always known that.

So I dedicate this 11th day of the month of love to the delicious
beverage that gets my day started, and to all of the wonderful
breakfasts I've had in hotels in Ottawa, Montreal, Quebec
City, New York, Paris and Florence -- that began with a toast
and a clink of coffee mugs to the beginning of a new day.

And I couldn't do that without dedicating this 11th day also
to the wonderful man who brings me my coffee on the weekend
mornings so I can stay in bed reading my book.  Coffee, reading
and romance go together so beautifully.
