Going to class

Before the dance with the cat
acrylic on canvas
36 x 48 inches

I'm going off to my art class tonight, happy to be going.
It's really a group, not a class, because there are no
teachers, just a model and a chance to paint with friends
whose work I love. I will arrive late, they will be entranced
with their work, and hardly notice me coming in,
then I will fall into the wave of people rushing to capture an
image. I'm in a mood of high excitement over the end of
term and all the goings on in art that will happen in the next
six months. So much happening!

For your pleasure I'm posting the other painting I finished
yesterday for the DVAC Juried show.

Whew.

Now I can just paint and draw my brains out for awhile.

Have a painting-your-brains-out-happily day.

Beautiful, beautiful! I love how the cat's eyes pick up the turquoise of the woman's dress; and what a sweet expression you've captured on her lovely face!

Hi R.,

I am just lucky that this model used to live across the street from me. I hope you have a very happy painting week too.

Thanks so much for your kind wishes.

Hi Liz,

My class is great. It's really a chance to play and do something very quickly. I enjoy the talks with other artists, and the fast pace.

Take care,

Barbara

Hi Rahina,

Yes I love going to my art group.
Of course we became friends because we all belong to the same art club, we show together, and paint every Tuesday night together.

It is wonderful.

Take care,

Barbara

I agree with the others - the model is very sweet and has a lovely expression, that you captured so well.

My weekly class is so energizing--I learn from everyone there, and hate it when summer approaches and it's over (today was the last day). Lovely, peaceful composition again!

Hi Julie,

Our club does run all summer, which is great. So I can continue to see the same people when they're not on holiday.

Everything we do to connect with other artists adds to the pleasure of the job of making art I think. Thanks for being part of that pleasure for me.

Hi Laurel,

I am happy with it, and happier still because I solved it finally and that took a long time. It was a painting I couldn't figure out, and now it's fine, which is a kind of miracle. I had to grow into it. Thanks for your kindness and encouragement.

XOXOXOBarbara
